IM Motors, a subsidiary of SAIC Motor, has introduced the updated LS6 SUV with extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, marking a significant milestone for the company. The LS6 is the first model to feature IM Motors’ Hengxing extended-range system, offering EREV variants with a battery range of up to 450 km.

The pre-sales of the updated LS6 have commenced with a starting price of RMB 209,900 ($29,230), and the official launch is scheduled for September 10. The LS6 boasts dimensions of 4,937 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,671 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm.

During the pre-sales phase, the LS6 is available in two BEV variants: Pro and Ultra, with starting prices of RMB 209,900 and RMB 279,900, respectively. The Pro variant features a 76-kWh battery pack with a CLTC range of 650 kilometers, while the Ultra variant is equipped with a 103-kWh battery pack offering a range of 750 kilometers.

In addition to the BEV options, the LS6 now includes EREV variants in Pro and Max versions, priced at RMB 214,900 and RMB 239,900, respectively. These EREV variants are powered by IM Motors’ Hengxing system, utilizing larger battery packs provided by CATL. The Pro EREV variant features a 52-kWh battery pack with a CLTC range of 370 kilometers, while the Max variant boasts a 66-kWh battery pack with a range of 450 kilometers.

Both EREV variants are rear-wheel drive models capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The LS6 sets a new standard in battery capacity, surpassing many BEV models in the market. For instance, the entry-level Tesla Model Y in China features a 62.5 kWh battery pack with a CLTC range of 593 km.

The LS6 was originally launched in China in October 2023, with the latest update introducing EREV variants to the lineup. IM Motors claims that its extended-range system offers three times the range of the Model Y with a similar battery capacity.

With its innovative technology and impressive performance, the updated LS6 is set to redefine the electric vehicle market and provide consumers with a compelling choice in the SUV segment.
