Alpine’s Global Expansion Plans

Alpine, the French automotive brand known for its sleek sports cars, is eyeing global expansion with a focus on the lucrative US market. According to CEO Philippe Krief, the US accounts for 40% of the market in the E-segment, making it a key target for Alpine’s future growth. However, Krief acknowledged that entering the US market would require a solid business case and potentially sourcing a platform from a partner firm like Geely.

In addition to the US, Alpine is also considering launching in China, despite the fierce competition in the market. Krief, who brings a wealth of experience from his time at prestigious brands like Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo, understands the challenges of breaking into new markets. Currently, Alpine’s sales are predominantly in France, but Krief has set his sights on expanding into premium markets like Germany, the UK, and Korea before venturing into the US.

To kickstart its global expansion, Alpine will be opening ‘Atelier Alpine’ showcase stores in key cities like Barcelona, Paris, and London. The brand has already seen a significant increase in sales this year, driven by the success of the A290 model. While the iconic A110 sports car is winding down, all eyes are now on the electric version, set to be unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.

The A110, with its roots tracing back to the rally-bred coupés of the 1950s, has garnered a loyal following among enthusiasts. The transition to an electric version poses a new challenge for Alpine, but CEO de Meo is confident that the shift aligns with industry regulations and the evolving market trends. With premium rivals also adapting to electric vehicles, Alpine is poised to make a splash in the global market.
