Isuzu Motors has officially kicked off mass production of its latest battery-powered D-Max pickup truck in Thailand. The company is gearing up to ship left-hand-drive models to Europe starting in the third quarter of 2025. The D-Max EV made its debut at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show just over a year ago and has since generated a buzz in the automotive industry.
While right-hand-drive models won’t roll off the production line until the end of the year, Isuzu is anticipating deliveries to domestic customers and key markets in South-east Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK to commence in 2026. The new D-Max EV boasts a full-time 4WD system, featuring the company’s innovative “e-Axles” at both the front and rear, ensuring optimal performance on rugged terrain. Isuzu highlights that the new system offers smooth acceleration typical of electric vehicles while minimizing noise and vibration. Moreover, the electric motors and sturdy frame and body design enable the D-Max EV to match the towing capacity and payload of existing diesel models.
In a bid to stay ahead in the market, Isuzu recently unveiled upgraded versions of its diesel-powered D-Max and Mu-X SUV derivative in late 2024. These updated models showcase refined interior and exterior designs, enhanced safety systems, upgraded 2.2L diesel engines, and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
As Isuzu continues to innovate and push boundaries in the automotive sector, the launch of the D-Max EV marks a significant milestone for the company. With a focus on sustainability and performance, Isuzu is poised to make a mark in the electric vehicle segment with its latest offering. Stay tuned for the arrival of the D-Max EV in markets worldwide as Isuzu paves the way for a greener and more efficient future in motoring.
