The Jaecoo 5: A New Contender in the Crossover Market
The highly anticipated Jaecoo 5, set to rival the Range Rover Evoque, is set to make its UK debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. This crossover will be the latest addition to the Chery-owned Jaecoo lineup, joining the successful Jaecoo 7 that has already gained popularity with almost 6000 sales since its launch earlier this year.
Based on the T1X platform, the Jaecoo 5 shares its foundation with its larger sibling, the Jaecoo 7, as well as other models from sibling brand Omoda. The design of the Jaecoo 5 is reminiscent of the Jaecoo 7, featuring similar front and rear end designs but with a shorter wheelbase and a more streamlined roofline.
Under the hood, the Jaecoo 5 will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering an estimated 187bhp and 203lb ft of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the Jaecoo 5 promises a dynamic driving experience.
Inside the cabin, the Jaecoo 5 offers a sleek and modern interior design. While it may feature a smaller infotainment screen than its larger counterpart, the 5 still provides a range of high-tech features including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The 5 will be available in two trim levels: Pure and Luxury, with Luxury trim offering additional premium amenities such as a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging, and heated and ventilated front seats.
With its stylish design, impressive performance, and luxurious features, the Jaecoo 5 is set to make a splash in the competitive crossover market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model.
