Jeep teases the new Grand Cherokee, but where’s the EV?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to make its debut soon, and Jeep has given us a sneak peek at what’s to come. The company recently released the first official images of the updated model, touting it as “the next chapter in the story of America’s best-selling full-size SUV.” With the current model in need of a refresh, the new Grand Cherokee is expected to bring some exciting changes to the table.

The latest version of the Grand Cherokee was introduced in 2021, with a two-row variant following in 2022. Despite being the top-selling full-size SUV in the US last year, sales saw a 12% dip compared to the previous year, with over 216,000 units sold. However, the Grand Cherokee still managed to maintain its position as one of the best-selling plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, with over 27,500 4xe models sold.

The 2026 Grand Cherokee will feature a redesigned front end, complete with new LED headlights and a revamped seven-slot grille similar to the new Compass model. Inside, the SUV will boast a simplified layout, with minor adjustments to the infotainment and climate control displays. Additionally, a new passenger screen has been added to enhance the overall driving experience.

While the new Grand Cherokee will be available in various configurations, including two-row, three-row L, and a plug-in hybrid 4xe, the big question on everyone’s mind is when we can expect to see an all-electric version. Jeep previously announced plans to launch the Grand Cherokee EV in 2027 as part of its agreement with the UAW, but given the rapidly evolving landscape of electric vehicles, those plans may have shifted.

In the meantime, Jeep is gearing up to introduce the new Compass EV in Europe, although US availability remains uncertain. The company temporarily halted operations at its Brampton Assembly plant, where the Compass is manufactured, as it reevaluates its product strategy in North America.

For US customers looking to go electric, Jeep currently offers the Wagoneer S as its first global electric SUV, boasting a range of up to 294 miles and starting at $65,200. Later this year, the company is expected to launch the Recon EV, a rugged electric SUV akin to the iconic Wrangler.

If you’re interested in taking advantage of savings on the 2025 Wagoneer S models, Jeep is currently offering employee pricing plus an extra $1,500 cash allowance on top of the $7,500 EV tax credit. To find Jeep Wagoneer S models in your area, you can use our link to explore your options today.
