KGM Musso Review 2025, Price & Specs

The Musso: A Capable and Reliable Pickup Truck

The Musso’s turbodiesel four-cylinder engine may have a slightly gruff start-up, but it quickly settles down to provide a decent level of cruising refinement, especially considering the terrain it’s designed for. The six-speed automatic transmission in our test car delivers smooth acceleration without any roughness, keeping the engine operating efficiently even at higher throttle levels.

While the engine does produce some noise, it’s comparable to other trucks in its class like the Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max. The Musso may not have the same level of torque as some of its competitors, but it offers plenty of accessible power for everyday use, giving the driver a sense of confidence and control.

It’s worth noting that the Musso falls under the UK’s specific light commercial vehicle speed limits due to its weight, capping its speed at 50mph on single carriageways and 60mph on non-motorway dual carriageways. This is a consideration for potential buyers looking to use the vehicle on different types of roads.

Equipped with all-terrain tires, the Musso is well-suited for off-road adventures, with competitive approach and departure angles and a respectable ground clearance. The long-bed version may sacrifice some off-road capability due to its extended wheelbase and rear overhang, but it still offers a reliable performance on rough terrain.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Musso performs well, with our test car achieving an average in the low 30s in unloaded conditions. In urban driving, the mileage drops into the 20s, but it can reach around 35mpg during steady cruising, which is commendable for a vehicle of its size and purpose.
