Kia EV9 GT: The UK’s Fastest Seven-Seater
The Kia EV9 GT has been unveiled as one the UK’s fastest seven-seaters, capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds.
This electric SUV is equipped with a dual-motor powertrain, featuring a 215bhp motor on the front axle and a 362bhp unit at the rear, delivering a total of 501bhp. This marks a significant increase in power compared to the current EV9 range-topper, the GT-Line S.
Surpassing the 493bhp Land Rover Defender 130 V8 in acceleration, the EV9 GT ranks among the fastest seven-seaters in the UK, trailing only behind the Audi SQ7 and the Tesla Model X Plaid.
Alongside the power upgrade, the EV9 GT features simulated automatic gearbox and engine sounds borrowed from Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, enhancing the driving experience. Drivers can control these enhancements using steering wheel-mounted paddles.
To improve handling, Kia has implemented electronic suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential in the EV9 GT. The SUV is also equipped with 21-inch alloy wheels fitted with Continental SportContact tires and larger front brakes for enhanced stopping power.
While the exact range of the EV9 GT has not been disclosed, it is expected to be lower than the standard Air variant’s 349-mile range. For comparison, the Kia EV6 GT offers a range of 263 miles, with the GT-Line variant reaching 328 miles on a single charge.
Kia claims that the EV9 GT can be charged from 10-80% in just 25 minutes, making it a practical choice for electric vehicle owners.
