Kia, a well-known automobile manufacturer, has introduced its first electric van, the PV5, in various parts of Europe. The van, part of Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) business, has garnered attention for its futuristic design and eco-friendly features.
Initially available for pre-orders in the UK, the PV5 is now making its way to other European markets such as Germany, France, Belgium, and Sweden. In Germany, the PV5 Passenger model starts at €38,290, while in France, it is priced at €39,550. The PV5 is offered in both Passenger and Cargo variants, catering to everyday use and business needs, respectively.
The PV5 comes with two battery pack options: 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh, providing ranges of up to 249 miles on a single charge. The Cargo variant offers similar range options, making it a versatile choice for different purposes. Additionally, Kia has announced plans to introduce seven different PV5 body types, including a Light Camper and an Open Bed model resembling a pickup truck.
While the PV5 is currently being launched in European markets, Kia has not confirmed its availability in the United States. The vehicle was spotted being tested in the US, but potential challenges may arise due to import tariffs. The PV5 is manufactured at Kia’s Hwaseong EVO plant in South Korea, with a production capacity of up to 150,000 units annually.
Kia aims to sell around 3,000 to 4,000 PV5s in its first full sales year, with plans to expand its electric van lineup with larger models in the future. The PV5 represents Kia’s commitment to sustainable transportation and innovation in the electric vehicle market.
