Leapmotor to Unveil B05 Electric Hatchback at Munich Motor Show
Leapmotor is set to reveal the B05 hatchback, an electric competitor to the Volkswagen Golf, at the upcoming Munich Motor Show. This new model is part of Leapmotor’s expansion plans, with two more cars, including another hatchback and a small SUV, expected to hit the market within the next two years.
The B05, confirmed by the Stellantis-backed Chinese company, will be a compact sibling to the previously unveiled B01 saloon. By entering the electric hatchback segment, Leapmotor aims to compete with popular models like the Volkswagen ID 3, Cupra Born, and MG 4 EV.
Prior to the B05 launch, Leapmotor will introduce the B10 crossover, targeting competitors such as the Ford Explorer and Peugeot e-3008. In Europe, the company currently offers the T03 city car and C10 mid-size SUV.
Both the B05 and C10 will share the Leap 3.5 platform, boasting a claimed range of 650km (404 miles). While pricing details are yet to be revealed, Leapmotor’s commitment to providing advanced technology and features at an affordable price point indicates that the B05 could be priced below £30,000.
Leapmotor’s UK expansion plans involve introducing a six-car lineup by 2027. The possibility of offering a range-extender powertrain, similar to the one in the C10, will depend on market feedback.
The B05 is expected to feature a design language similar to its siblings, with distinctive light bars, sporty wheel designs, and aerodynamic styling. Inside, it will boast a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and premium materials.
Looking ahead, Leapmotor will introduce an entry-level crossover named A10, positioned below the B10. This model will compete with the Renault 4 and Jeep Avenger. A hatchback variant, the A05, will follow suit, targeting models like the Fiat Grande Panda, Citroën ë-C3, and Skoda Epiq.
