Leapmotor to Expand Global Line-up with New Electric Vehicles
Chinese electric car manufacturer Leapmotor has announced plans to introduce two hatchbacks and a small SUV to its global line-up over the next two years. The company, in partnership with Stellantis, currently offers the T03 supermini and C10 SUV in Europe, with the B10 crossover set to be added by the end of the year.
Following the launch of the B10, Leapmotor will unveil a new Volkswagen Golf-sized hatchback named the B05. This new model will share the same platform as the B10 and is expected to have a range of 650km (404 miles). With a focus on providing advanced technology and features at an affordable price, the B05 is likely to be priced below £30,000.
Leapmotor has revealed its plans to have a total of six cars in the UK market by 2027, indicating that all three new EVs will be available in the region. The company’s recently introduced B01 saloon is not expected to be imported to the UK at this time.
It is yet to be confirmed whether Leapmotor will offer the new models with a range-extender powertrain, as seen in the C10 SUV. The design of the upcoming vehicles is anticipated to feature similar styling elements such as wraparound light bars, sporty wheel designs, and aerodynamic profiles. Inside, the focus will be on a large infotainment touchscreen and premium materials.
Additionally, Leapmotor is working on an entry-level crossover model, the A10, to compete with vehicles like the Renault 4 and Jeep Avenger. This will be followed by a hatchback variant called the A05, targeting models like the Fiat Grande Panda and Citroën ë-C3 at a potentially lower price point below £20,000.
The expansion of Leapmotor’s model range reflects the brand’s rapid growth over the past decade, both domestically and internationally. The company reported strong sales of the B10 crossover, shipping over 8000 units within 13 days of its launch, with the majority being mid-range or higher trim levels. Leapmotor aims to climb the ranks in the global EV market, targeting a position among the top five EV brands in the coming years.
