Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer, Leapmotor (HKG: 9863), experienced a significant drop in deliveries in January compared to the previous month but managed to double its deliveries from the same period last year. The company delivered 25,170 vehicles in January, which was a 40.8% decrease from December’s 42,517 deliveries but a remarkable 105.02% increase from the 18,618 deliveries in January of the previous year.
Typically, in the Chinese auto market, the beginning of the year marks a low point for deliveries, while the end of the year sees a surge in deliveries. By the end of January, Leapmotor had delivered a total of 624,718 units since its inception. The company has set ambitious targets for itself, aiming to deliver 500,000 vehicles in the full year of 2025.
In 2024, Leapmotor delivered 293,724 vehicles, representing a significant 103.76% increase from the previous year. Founded in 2015, Leapmotor has established itself as one of the pioneering forces in the Chinese automotive industry, initially focusing on battery electric vehicle (BEV) models before expanding its offerings to include extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models to cater to a broader market.
Currently, Leapmotor offers a range of models in China, including the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16, with most models available in both BEV and EREV variants. The company is set to introduce its latest model, the B10, in March, as announced by its founder, chairman, and CEO, Zhu Jiangming. The B10, an all-electric SUV, is the first model built on the Leap 3.5 architecture and marks the beginning of Leapmotor’s B-Series lineup, targeting a diverse range of global markets.
The B-Series platform is part of Leapmotor’s strategic plan to introduce a variety of products, including SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks in 2025. With three new products slated for release in the upcoming year, Leapmotor is poised to further solidify its presence in the competitive electric vehicle market.
In conclusion, despite the dip in deliveries in January, Leapmotor remains focused on its long-term growth and expansion plans. The introduction of the B10 model and the strategic rollout of the B-Series lineup demonstrate the company’s commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of the global automotive market.
