An executive at Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) recently took to social media to share camouflaged images of the upcoming Lafa 5 model, building excitement as the hatchback’s debut is just around the corner.
Xu Jun, the senior vice president and COO of the renowned new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, posted two intriguing images on Weibo showcasing the Lafa 5 draped in camouflage wraps. According to Xu, the Lafa 5 is a sleek coupe tailored for young drivers worldwide, boasting a wide body and a sporty stance that is sure to turn heads.
The anticipation for the Lafa 5 has been steadily growing since Leapmotor first teased the model while unveiling their impressive August delivery figures on September 1. The company announced that the highly anticipated debut of the Lafa 5 would take place at the prestigious Munich auto show on September 8.
With the unveiling of the Lafa 5 just days away, expectations are high as Leapmotor gears up to enter the fiercely competitive electric hatchback market. The Lafa 5 will be pitted against industry heavyweights such as the Volkswagen ID.3, SAIC MG4, BYD Dolphin, and Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) Firefly EV, marking a significant milestone for the NEV maker.
Leapmotor’s current lineup in China includes a range of models such as the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16. While the T03, B01, and B10 are exclusively available as battery electric vehicles (BEVs), the other models offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants to cater to diverse consumer preferences.
In a testament to their growing success, Leapmotor achieved a record-breaking milestone by delivering an impressive 57,066 vehicles in August, marking their fourth consecutive month of record-high deliveries. This remarkable achievement signifies an 88.31 percent year-on-year increase and a notable 13.84 percent rise from the previous month, solidifying Leapmotor’s position as a frontrunner in the ever-evolving NEV market.
As Leapmotor continues to make waves in the industry, reports suggest that the company is gearing up to commence European production in Spain by the third quarter of 2026. The production will kick off with the production of the B10 compact SUV at a Stellantis plant in Spain, followed by the introduction of the B05 model, further expanding Leapmotor’s global footprint and cementing their reputation as an innovative leader in the NEV sector.
