Leapmotor, a Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer backed by Stellantis NV, has launched the pre-sales of its latest model, the B10 SUV. This marks the debut of Leapmotor’s B-series, offering LiDAR technology in a more affordable vehicle.
The B10 is priced at RMB 109,800 ($15,130) and comes in five variants, with three having a CLTC range of 510 kilometers and starting prices of RMB 109,800, RMB 119,800, and RMB 129,800 respectively. The other two variants offer a range of 600 kilometers and start at RMB 129,800 and RMB 139,800.
What sets the B10 apart is its inclusion of LiDAR technology in the smart driving Edition variants, provided by Hesai, the same supplier for Li Auto, one of Leapmotor’s competitors. This makes the B10 the first EV in its price range to feature LiDAR, enhancing its driving capabilities.
After just one hour of pre-sales, the B10 secured over 15,010 orders, with the LiDAR-equipped variants accounting for 73 percent of the total. The official launch is set for April, with customers who pre-order receiving perks up to RMB 8,800.
The compact SUV is built on the Leap 3.5 architecture, measuring 4,515 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. It is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, with different variants offering peak powers ranging from 132 kW to 160 kW.
The B10 is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, with DC fast charging capabilities allowing for a quick charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 20 minutes. The LiDAR-equipped variants feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip for smart driving functions.
Leapmotor aims to sell at least 40,000 B-series models monthly, surpassing its C-series sales. The company currently offers models like T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16 in China, with plans to deliver 500,000 vehicles by 2025.
With the B10’s innovative features and strong pre-sales performance, Leapmotor is poised for success in the competitive NEV market.
