Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) has announced plans to establish its European manufacturing base in Zaragoza, Spain, utilizing Stellantis’ existing vehicle assembly plant. According to a report by local media outlet FNews, the production is expected to kick off in the third quarter of next year after necessary plant modifications are completed.
The initial focus of production will be on Leapmotor’s B-series models, with the first model to be manufactured being the B10 compact SUV, followed by the B05. These models are expected to make their debut in Europe at the IAA Mobility 2025 event in Munich, Germany, on September 8.
The Leapmotor B10 was officially launched in China on April 10, marking the entry of the first global model in the B series lineup. The company has also announced that the B10 will be available for purchase and deliveries in Europe at the upcoming IAA Mobility 2025 event. On the other hand, the B05 model is yet to be launched in China and will also make its debut at the same event in September.
The report from FNews suggests that the B05 may be priced below RMB 100,000 ($14,000) in China and potentially under £30,000 ($40,520) in Europe. This competitive pricing strategy aims to attract a wider range of customers in both markets.
Back in October 2023, Stellantis made a significant investment of €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) for about a 20 percent stake in Leapmotor, becoming the EV maker’s largest external shareholder. This strategic partnership has paved the way for collaboration in production, with Leapmotor previously starting production of its T03 compact electric vehicle at a Stellantis plant in Poland.
While initial reports indicated successful production of the T03 model in Poland, a recent Reuters report in April 2025 stated that Stellantis had halted production of the Leapmotor T03 and was exploring alternative production plans. This development underscores the dynamic nature of the automotive industry and the need for flexibility in adapting to changing market conditions.
As Leapmotor gears up for its European production in Spain and the launch of its B-series models in the region, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and expanding its global footprint. Stay tuned for more updates on Leapmotor’s exciting developments in the EV market.
