Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) is gearing up to launch its first all-electric SUV, the Li i8, with the company set to start accepting pre-orders on July 17. The official launch event for the Li i8 is scheduled for July 29, marking a significant milestone for the Chinese automaker.
The Li i8 is a departure from the conventional boxy SUV shape, featuring a design that sets it apart from other models in the market. Recently, Li Auto shared interior images of the Li i8, giving potential buyers a glimpse of what to expect from this new electric SUV.
The interior of the Li i8 showcases a 6-seat layout, with attention to detail evident in the design of the steering wheel and seats. The steering wheel design is reminiscent of other Li Auto models, with a small screen displaying gear information at the top. Additionally, the second-row seats feature comfort features such as leg rests, providing a luxurious experience for passengers.
In terms of availability, Li Auto will kick off pre-orders for the Li i8 on July 17, followed by a series of showcases in various cities starting on July 18. The official launch event for the Li i8 is set for July 29, as confirmed by the company.
Li Auto has established itself as a leading player in the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market in China, with a lineup that includes the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9 SUVs. The introduction of the Li Mega MPV in 2024 marked the company’s entry into the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment.
The Li i8 represents Li Auto’s first pure electric SUV and second BEV model. With a design that redefines the pure electric SUV segment, the Li i8 aims to offer efficient use of space, surpassing even Tesla’s Model X in this aspect.
While pricing details for the Li i8 have not been disclosed, the competitive landscape in the Chinese market poses a challenge for Li Auto. Nio’s sub-brand Onvo offers its flagship SUV L90 at a starting price of RMB 279,900 ($39,030), setting the stage for intense competition in the electric SUV segment.
The Li i8’s unique design and features position it as a strong contender in the market, catering to consumers looking for a stylish and innovative electric SUV. As Li Auto prepares to launch the Li i8, all eyes are on how this new model will fare in the competitive Chinese electric vehicle market.
