Li Auto starts taking pre-orders for updated Li Mega MPV, deliveries to begin in May

Li Auto, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently announced the pre-order availability of the updated Li Mega MPV. This marks the beginning of the company’s model update plan for the year. The pre-order price for the upgraded Li Mega MPV is set at RMB 529,800 ($73,110), the same as its predecessor. This model is considered to be Li Auto’s most expensive offering.

Customers who place orders for the updated Li Mega MPV will receive additional benefits worth RMB 5,000, including 3,000 kWh of free supercharging. Reservation order holders will have the opportunity to confirm their orders by the end of April and select optional features.

Starting at the end of April, updated Li Mega show cars will be on display at Li Auto showrooms, with test drives scheduled to be available in May. The main highlight of the model update lies in the smart driving hardware, with the smart driving chip being upgraded from two Nvidia Orin-X chips to a single Thor-U chip. This upgrade will enable the model to support Li Auto’s next-generation autonomous driving architecture, MindVLA.

MindVLA was recently unveiled by Li Auto at the Nvidia GTC 2025 event on March 18. This cutting-edge autonomous driving architecture is expected to revolutionize the way autonomous driving technology is perceived, akin to how the iPhone 4 redefined smartphones.

The Li Mega MPV was initially launched on March 1, 2024, as Li Auto’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model. Despite high expectations, the model’s performance did not meet projections, impacting the company’s overall sales in the first half of last year. In 2024, the Li Mega delivered 10,798 units, accounting for only 2.16% of Li Auto’s total delivery volume of 500,508 vehicles for the year.

Apart from the Li Mega, Li Auto offers a range of extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) such as the Li L9, Li L8, Li L7, and Li L6. These SUV models are also set to receive smart driving edition updates in May. Furthermore, Li Auto teased its first pure electric SUV, the Li i8, last month, with plans for the model to hit the market in July.

With these updates and new offerings, Li Auto is poised to further solidify its position in the electric vehicle market. The company’s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology is evident in its product lineup, setting the stage for continued success in the evolving automotive industry.
