KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong, has had a tumultuous history over its seventy years in the automotive industry. However, under the ownership of KG Group since 2022, the company is making a strong comeback with a range of new models. The Actyon, a sleek SUV-coupe that debuted in Korea last August, is now being exported to the UK, signaling a new chapter for the brand.

In 2024, home market sales of KG Mobility rose to 67,000 vehicles, with global sales reaching 164,000 units. The company is cautiously optimistic about its export target for 2025, aiming to surpass last year’s numbers. With the introduction of new models and variants, including electric and hybrid powertrains, KG Mobility is poised for continued growth.

The Actyon, part of the new J120 series, is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor, the Torres. While the UK variant is only offered in front-wheel drive, the model exudes a premium feel with its elegant design and premium features. The Actyon shares a platform with the Torres but boasts unique dimensions and styling cues.

In the UK, KG Motors is offering a single high-spec trim level, the K50, with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine producing 120 kW (163 PS) and 280 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Despite its sporty appearance, the Actyon’s performance and fuel economy are average, with a 0-62 mph time of 10.8 seconds and WLTP averages of 194 g/km CO2 emissions and 33.1 mpg.

While the Actyon’s driving dynamics may not be exceptional, the vehicle offers ample interior space, luxurious features, and advanced technology. The cabin is well-appointed with premium materials, dual 12+ inch displays, and generous storage options. Rear-seat passengers enjoy heated seats, USB sockets, and entertainment features for a comfortable ride.

Looking ahead, KG Motors has set ambitious sales targets, aiming to retail between 400 and 500 Actyon units annually in the UK. The company’s best-selling model, the Musso, is expected to drive overall sales growth, with new models like the Torres Hybrid and upcoming electric SUVs contributing to future success.

In conclusion, the KG Actyon represents a bold step forward for the company, combining style, luxury, and value in a competitive package. With a strong marketing campaign and a focus on customer satisfaction, KG Mobility is poised for success in the UK market. The Actyon is priced at GBP36,995 OTR with deliveries set to begin in February.
