LiveWire’s smaller, lower cost e-motorcycle unveiling shocks crowd

LiveWire, the electric motorcycle company that emerged from Harley-Davidson a few years back, recently unveiled two new compact electric motorcycles aimed at making powered two-wheelers more accessible to new riders in terms of both physical size and affordability.

The surprise unveiling took place at the HD Homecoming motorcycle festival in Milwaukee, where LiveWire showcased the new bikes. These motorcycles feature smaller 12″ tires and a seat height of just 30″ (76 cm), making them more compact and agile than any previous LiveWire models.

Despite their smaller size, these bikes are not lacking in performance. LiveWire confirmed that early testing has shown impressive figures of around 53 mph (85 km/h) top speeds and a range of 100 miles (160 km) from the pair of removable batteries.

It seems that these bikes are designed to cater to a wide range of riders, with a trail model for off-road riding and a street model for urban commuting and leisure riding. LiveWire emphasized the customizable and approachable nature of these electric motorcycles, making them ideal for new riders and mini-moto enthusiasts.

While pricing details have not been released yet, it is expected that these models will be more affordable than LiveWire’s current lineup, which typically ranges from $16k to $17k. This lower price point could make electric motorcycles more accessible to younger riders who may not be able to afford a luxury ride.

This unveiling comes at a time when there is a growing demand for smaller electric motorcycles, especially among younger riders. The compact size and performance capabilities of these new LiveWire models could fill a gap in the market for affordable and fun electric motorcycles.

Overall, LiveWire’s decision to introduce these mini electric motorcycles is a significant step in the company’s growth and expansion into new markets. By offering smaller and more affordable models, LiveWire is tapping into a new demographic of riders who are looking for a fun and accessible electric motorcycle experience.
