Get Lost Unveils Lotus Elise S1 Restomod Project Safari
British start-up Get Lost has recently showcased a remarkable restomod of the iconic 1990s sports car, the Lotus Elise S1. Named Project Safari, this reimagined version of the Elise has been transformed into a thrilling rally-raid machine, defying its original purpose.
Founder of Get Lost, George Williams, expressed his excitement about the unconventional project, stating, “The idea of taking an Elise off-road might sound ridiculous, and that’s exactly why we leaned into it.”
One of the most notable modifications made to the mid-engined roadster is the custom suspension system that elevates its ride height by 100mm, providing enhanced ground clearance for tackling rough terrains. The undertray has been reinforced to shield the car from debris and obstacles, while the flared wheel arches accommodate chunky Nankang all-terrain tires.
A distinct air intake, reminiscent of the Elise’s front grille design, hovers above the cockpit. The lighting has been upgraded with rectangular LED headlights and a rally-style pod of four lamps mounted on the front end, creating a striking visual appeal.
Get Lost revealed that the Project Safari boasts a different powertrain compared to the original Elise, although specific details have not yet been disclosed. The new engine is promised to deliver superior performance and reliability suitable for this adventurous vehicle.
Possible engine options could include Honda’s K-Series or Ford’s Duratec four-cylinder engines, both renowned for their power output exceeding the original 118bhp engine.
