Lyft, Inc., a prominent transportation network in North America, has teamed up with Mobileye, a leading provider of self-driving technology and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), to pave the way for the widespread commercialization of autonomous vehicle services by top fleet operators.

Utilizing cutting-edge AI for autonomy, Mobileye offers AV technology to a network of specialized vehicle manufacturers. These manufacturers integrate Mobileye’s AV technology into AV-ready vehicles, which can then be purchased by vehicle fleet operators and transportation service providers. The collaboration between Lyft and Mobileye aims to capitalize on Lyft’s vast network of 40 million annual riders and its strong reputation as a leading transportation network in North America. This partnership will provide a seamless demand platform for Mobileye Driveâ„¢-based AV fleets.

The ultimate goal is to enable future AV operators looking to deploy and manage large-scale fleets in various metropolitan areas across North America to acquire Mobileye Drive-equipped, “Lyft-ready” vehicles from vehicle builders. These operators can then tap into Lyft’s rider demand, optimizing the utilization and profitability of their fleets.

Furthermore, the companies plan to leverage Mobileye’s new cloud-based AV demand technology, which connects Mobileye Drive-equipped vehicles with AV fleet operators. By utilizing Mobileye’s comprehensive AV ecosystem and Lyft’s suite of AV Partner APIs, fleets of AVs are expected to be monetized, providing Lyft users with quicker and more widespread access to AVs.

Lyft’s CEO, David Risher, emphasized the significance of Mobileye’s technology in preparing autonomous fleets for integration with Lyft’s platform. He stated, “As we expand the availability of AVs to our 40 million annual riders, we are committed to creating a platform where fleet owners can confidently deploy their assets. We are excited to have Mobileye as a key strategic partner as we progress towards an autonomous future.”

Mobileye’s President and CEO, Prof. Amnon Shashua, highlighted the importance of collaborating with leading mobility providers and operators to bring autonomous mobility services to fruition. He expressed, “Enabling Mobileye Drive with Lyft’s network of 40 million annual riders in North America will allow our AV customers to access new markets and regions with autonomous services, delivering the technology’s benefits through a sustainable business model.”

In conclusion, the alliance between Lyft and Mobileye signifies a significant step towards the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicle services. By combining Mobileye’s cutting-edge technology with Lyft’s extensive network and demand platform, the partnership aims to revolutionize the way AV fleets are deployed and managed, ultimately benefiting both operators and riders alike.
