Lynk & Co Z02: A New Electric Fastback Crossover Enters the Market

The Lynk & Co Z02 electric fastback crossover, targeted at European markets, has officially started pre-sales in China. It will be introduced in the domestic market as the Z20 with a starting price of 146,000 yuan (20,200 USD). This new model from Lynk & Co has sparked an internal competition with the Zeekr X SUV from Geely.

Lynk & Co, a brand established by Geely and Volvo in 2017, has been catering to young buyers with its range of petrol-powered and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In 2024, Lynk & Co ventured into the electric vehicle segment with the launch of the Z10 electric sedan. This move put them in direct competition with Geely’s Zeekr brand, which also specializes in electric cars.

Recently, there have been talks of Geely acquiring a majority share in Lynk & Co to streamline strategic development and avoid internal competition. However, Lynk & Co has already initiated pre-sales of another direct competitor to the Zeekr model – the stylish Lynk & Co Z02 fastback crossover designed for international markets.

The Lynk & Co Z02, known as the Z20 in the domestic market, boasts a sleek exterior design with unique features like closed front end, distinct running lights, and flush door handles. The rear of the Z02 showcases a single taillight strip that doubles as a ducktail spoiler, giving the crossover a dynamic look. The vehicle looks particularly attractive in a pink body color.

With a styling that closely resembles the Zeekr X and sharing a similar SEA modular architecture, the interior of the Lynk & Co Z02 also mirrors that of the Zeekr X. It features a large touchscreen, a thin LCD instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted behind it. Additionally, the Z02 comes equipped with a head-up display and a spacious storage compartment in the center tunnel.

In terms of dimensions, the Lynk & Co Z02 aligns with the Zeekr X, measuring 4460/1845/1573 mm with a wheelbase of 2755. The Z20 is offered in rear-wheel drive configuration, powered by a 250 kW (335 hp) electric motor and a 62 kWh LFP battery, providing a range of 530 km CLTC. The Z02 can charge from 10 to 80% in just 15 minutes, thanks to the 4.5C technology, offering a charging power of up to 280 kW DC.

The Lynk & Co Z02 has been made available for pre-order in China in three variants, starting at 146,000 yuan (20,200 USD) for the base model. The top-trim model is priced at 161,000 yuan (22,250 USD). The Z02 comes with a range of features including 14 Harman Kardon speakers, zero-gravity front seats, a refrigerator, a surround-view camera system, and the L2 AD system, making it a strong competitor to the Zeekr X.

With the imminent launch in China followed by entry into international markets, the Lynk & Co Z02 is set to make a significant impact in the electric crossover segment.
