Major Chinese Automaker Places First Order for Magna’s DHD Duo Hybrid Drive System

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 19, Magna announced a significant milestone as it secured the first order for its innovative DHD Duo dedicated hybrid drive system from a leading Chinese automaker. This achievement underscores Magna’s dedication to fostering innovation and sustainability by providing cutting-edge powertrain solutions to support global electrification initiatives.

The DHD Duo system is a longitudinal front-wheel-drive solution that boasts a dual-motor, multi-speed design and an 800V high-voltage system, guaranteeing a seamless and sophisticated driving experience.

By overcoming integration challenges commonly associated with longitudinal hybrid systems in both passenger and commercial vehicles, the DHD Duo integrates a compact and highly efficient dog clutch system. This innovative design allows for seamless integration across various vehicle platforms without the need for structural modifications, providing automakers with unparalleled flexibility.

As a part of Magna’s DHD Duo product range, the longitudinal front-wheel-drive system offers a scalable architecture that caters to a wide array of vehicle segments spanning from B to E categories, including SUVs, pickup trucks, and light commercial vehicles. It supports multiple hybrid configurations such as P1+P3, P2+P3, and range-extended modes, while also facilitating pure electric, series, and parallel driving modes.

Production of the DHD Duo system is set to commence in the third quarter of 2025 at Magna’s state-of-the-art facility in Nanchang.
