MAN Truck & Bus has achieved a significant milestone in its journey towards decarbonization by delivering its first Ultra Low Liner eTGX electric semi-truck to international logistics service provider Duvenbeck. Duvenbeck plans to add over 100 more of these electric trucks to its fleet, marking a major step towards electrification in the logistics industry.

Duvenbeck had signed a letter of intent to purchase 120 of the new Volkswagen Group MAN electric semi-trucks back in 2023, and now the first batch of these 40-ton e-trucks has arrived at Duvenbeck’s headquarters. This delivery signifies a significant advancement in the company’s efforts towards sustainability and meeting customers’ requirements while protecting the environment.

The MAN eTruck features a 3-meter interior height, making it the first battery-electric semi-truck in its category to offer this feature. This unique attribute makes it an ideal choice for transporting goods with high volume requirements, particularly in the automotive industry.

Bernd Reining, Senior Director Procurement at Duvenbeck, highlighted the importance of the MAN eTruck in achieving emission-free logistics and meeting sustainability goals. The company’s commitment to environmental protection is evident in its decision to incorporate these electric trucks into its operations.

Duvenbeck plans to deploy its first electric MAN trucks at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg as part of Volkswagen Group’s goTOzero impact logistics program. This initiative underscores Volkswagen’s dedication to choosing climate-friendly logistics solutions and promoting sustainability across its supply chain.

MAN’s stance on the competition between hydrogen and battery electric trucks has been clear since January, when the company expressed its belief that hydrogen technology cannot effectively compete with battery electric vehicles. Despite ongoing exploration of hydrogen semis, MAN continues to emphasize the advantages of battery electric trucks in the current market.

Overall, MAN’s delivery of the Ultra Low Liner eTGX electric semi-truck to Duvenbeck represents a significant step towards sustainable and eco-friendly logistics solutions. By partnering with Volkswagen and Duvenbeck, MAN is paving the way for the widespread adoption of electric trucks in the transportation industry.
