Mercedes-AMG Concept GT XX: A Fusion of Sports Car and Grand Tourer

In a recent statement, Schäfer described the Mercedes-AMG Concept GT XX as a vehicle that blurs the line between a sports car and a grand tourer, catering to both worlds while prioritizing the evocation of desire.

The most distinctive design feature of the concept can be seen at the front, where the Panamericana grille has been transformed into a more concave, oval shape with 10 vertical strakes. Complementing this are recessed headlights and a prominent splitter.

Other notable design elements include functional vents on the bonnet for heat extraction, a steeply raked windscreen for enhanced aerodynamics, and a defined central channel on the roof. The frameless doors with flush handles, compact aero mirrors, and sculpted side sills contribute to optimal airflow management.

At the rear, the absence of a rear window is striking, replaced by six small round tail-lights and a 730-LED light panel capable of displaying various messages. A deployable airbrake spoiler and a large carbon fibre diffuser further enhance the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle.

The aerodynamic efficiency extends to the 21-inch alloys, which feature active blade sections that adjust for brake cooling and drag reduction. With a drag coefficient of 0.19, the production model is set to be one of the most aerodynamic cars on the market, prioritizing downforce and cooling over minimal drag like the EQXX’s record-breaking 0.17 figure.
