Mercedes-AMG to reveal bespoke electric super-saloon in June

The upcoming electric Mercedes-AMG prototype is set to make a bold statement with its aerodynamic design features. From the retractable rear spoiler to the flush door handles and split rear window, every detail has been carefully crafted to enhance downforce and improve aerodynamic efficiency. The evolution of the concept’s distinctive tail-lights is a hidden gem waiting to be unveiled, while the bulky lower bumpers are expected to house aero-optimized bodywork.

Designed as a high-performance vehicle from the ground up, the electric AMG prioritizes dynamic performance and engagement over sheer speed. It is built on a specialized EV architecture called AMG.EA and utilizes power-dense axial flux motors developed by Yasa, a company owned by Mercedes. These motors, despite their lightweight construction at just 24kg, boast impressive outputs of 590lb ft and 480bhp individually. When paired in a twin-motor system, similar to the setup showcased in AMG’s One-Eleven supercar concept, the electric AMG could potentially deliver a combined power of 1000bhp and 1000lb ft.

The unique configuration of having both motors mounted on the rear axle, as seen in the One-Eleven concept, offers packaging benefits that maximize aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining a spacious rear luggage area. This innovative design approach not only enhances performance but also ensures practicality comparable to traditional V8-powered models, establishing the electric AMG as a true super-tourer.

The electrifying performance and advanced technology of the Mercedes-AMG prototype promise an exhilarating driving experience, setting a new benchmark for electric performance vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates on this cutting-edge creation that blends power, efficiency, and innovation seamlessly.
