Mercedes-Benz Introduces First Electric Wagon: The CLA Shooting Brake
Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled its first electric wagon, the CLA Shooting Brake. This new variant of the brand’s long-legged EV, which was first showcased in March, offers a roomier and bigger-booted alternative to the standard coupé.
The second-generation CLA Shooting Brake is larger than its predecessor, with a length of 4723mm, height of 1469mm, and a wheelbase stretched to 2790mm. This increase in size translates to improved rear headroom, front headroom, and legroom for passengers.
With a boot space of 455 litres and a 101-litre frunk, the CLA Shooting Brake offers ample luggage space. When the rear seats are folded, the total luggage capacity expands to 1290 litres.
Powered by an 85kWh battery, the CLA Shooting Brake offers a range of 473 miles. It is available in both 268bhp and 349bhp variants, with a towing capability of 1800kg in four-wheel-drive configuration. Additionally, a 1.5-litre hybrid version is set to be released next year.
The interior of the CLA Shooting Brake mirrors that of the CLA Coupé, featuring a technology-centric cabin with a 10.25in driver’s display and a 14in central touchscreen. An optional 14in screen for the front passenger is also available. The wagon is equipped with a cabin-length sunroof for an enhanced driving experience.
