Mercedes-Benz Group has recently announced significant changes to its board of management, as part of a strategic transformation plan aimed at addressing challenges in the evolving business landscape. By 2025, three key board members, Sabine Kohleisen, Renata Jungo Brüngger, and Hubertus Troska, will bid farewell to the company upon the expiration of their contracts.
This decision comes in the midst of broader cost-cutting initiatives, with Mercedes-Benz revealing plans in November to reduce expenses by several billion euros in response to the changing business environment. Sabine Kohleisen, who currently serves as the board member for human resources and labour director, has chosen not to extend her contract beyond its expiry at the end of 2025.
Kohleisen will step down earlier than planned, on 30th April 2025, to facilitate a smooth transition in leadership. Her successor, Britta Seeger, who is currently responsible for marketing & sales, will take over the HR and labour role from 1st March 2025.
Martin Brudermüller, the chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Group supervisory board, expressed gratitude towards Sabine Kohleisen for her successful tenure and pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategic decisions. He also welcomed Britta Seeger’s transition into the HR and labour director position, highlighting her experience and credibility in driving necessary changes within the company.
Moreover, the company is strengthening its leadership team with the appointments of Mathias Geisen, Oliver Thöne, and Olaf Schick. Mathias Geisen, the current head of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division, will join the board of management on 1st February 2025 and will assume responsibility for the Marketing & Sales division from March 2025 onwards.
These organizational changes signify Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to navigating the challenges of the automotive industry and positioning itself for future growth and success. The company’s strategic realignment and leadership transitions aim to drive innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving market landscape.
