Mini John Cooper Works Review 2025, Price & Specs

The Mini JCW is a supermini that offers a unique and charming interior design. Despite sharing many features with the standard Mini Cooper, such as red accents, JCW insignias, and perforated leather steering wheel, the interior of the JCW stands out as one of the most distinctive in its class.

One of the first things you notice when entering the Mini JCW is the long front door, which adds a sense of occasion to the experience. Being one of the last remaining three-door hatchbacks, the Mini Cooper allows for easy access without the B-pillar getting in the way, making it a refreshing choice for tall drivers.

The seating position in the Mini JCW is surprisingly low for a front-wheel-drive hatchback, reminiscent of sports cars like the Alpine A290 and Toyota GR Yaris. However, the seats in the JCW feel a bit de-contented compared to previous generations, lacking features like adjustable lumbar support and cushion angle. While comfortable, the seats could use more lateral support for a sportier driving experience.

The dashboard design of the Mini JCW is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Mini’s layout, with a large round touchscreen and minimal button panel. While the graphics are unique and attractive, the user interface can be a bit overwhelming, with multiple functions squeezed onto the 9.4-inch screen. Adjusting settings like screen brightness and turning off assistance features can be cumbersome, and accessing certain functions requires logging in with a Mini ID.

Despite its small size, the Mini JCW offers decent rear legroom and headroom, making it more usable than expected for passengers in the back. However, with only 210 litres of boot space, the JCW is not as practical as family-oriented hatchbacks like the Skoda Fabia. The variable-height floor in the boot adds some usability, but overall storage space is limited.

In conclusion, the Mini JCW’s interior combines charm and functionality in a unique way, making it a standout choice in the supermini segment. While it may lack some of the premium features found in other hot hatches, the JCW offers a driving experience that is both fun and distinctive.
