NEVC and MeriTech Collaborate to Advance Automotive Chip Development

Beijing (Gasgoo) – In a significant move, the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center (NEVC) and MeriTech Integrated Circuits have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. The collaboration aims to drive innovation in the automotive chip industry.

NEVC has established a robust “4+2” business framework for its automotive chip division, encompassing standard research, testing and evaluation, product certification, and automotive-grade management. Additionally, the center has implemented two technical service systems: an application verification framework and a quality management system tailored for automotive-grade chips. These chips, built on a 22nm process with data rates up to 12Gbps, offer competitive performance and cost-effective alternatives to international counterparts.

NEVC, in collaboration with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation’s key laboratory for automotive chip testing and evaluation, and the China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance, provides comprehensive services for chip testing, certification, and quality management. On the other hand, MeriTech specializes in high-performance analog signal chain front-end and high-speed interface chips, catering to various sectors such as connected vehicles, low-altitude economy, robotics, and industrial applications. Key products from MeriTech include automotive SerDes chips, high-performance ADC/DAC converters, and LiDAR front-end chips.

NEVC and MeriTech have a longstanding partnership in reliability testing, functional safety certification, and client engagement for automotive-grade chips. The new strategic agreement aims to deepen collaboration and foster innovation across service models and business domains.

MeriTech’s product series, including the M66S6x serializer chips and the M65D6x/M65Q6x deserializer chips, have successfully passed rigorous assessments, including functional safety evaluations and documentation reviews. These products have obtained ISO 26262:2018 certification, indicating compliance with the ASIL B functional safety level, as confirmed by NEVC.
