German luxury automaker BMW is set to introduce the new BMW iX3 China-exclusive edition this year, marking the global debut of its first Neue Klasse production model in Munich.
The company recently announced on its Chinese social media platforms that the China-specific new BMW iX3 will be tailored specifically for Chinese users, focusing on intelligence, driving pleasure, and comfort. This model will integrate BMW’s customized large language AI model technology, developed in collaboration with Alibaba, and will feature smart driving assistance systems created with local partners to better cater to the Chinese market.
In a strategic move, BMW partnered with Chinese AI startup Momenta in July to develop a China-specific smart driving system for various BMW models, including the next-generation vehicles produced domestically.
The China-made BMW iX3 will boast innovative large cylindrical batteries and an 800-volt high-voltage platform, offering over 900 kilometers of CLTC range. Notably, users can gain more than 400 kilometers of range with just a 10-minute charge, addressing range and charging concerns for consumers.
The all-new BMW iX3 was unveiled in Munich, Germany, with production scheduled to take place at the newly constructed BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The initial batch of the BMW iX3 50 xDrive models will begin production in the fall of 2025.
Following its global debut, the new BMW iX3 will be launched in Europe in spring 2026 and in the United States in summer 2026. Furthermore, the China-specific variant produced at the Shenyang plant in Liaoning province will commence deliveries in summer 2026, designed to meet the preferences and expectations of Chinese customers.
BMW plans to introduce more all-electric models, including an entry-level variant, in the coming years. By 2027, Neue Klasse technology will be implemented across a total of 40 new models and model upgrades, signaling a significant shift in BMW’s product lineup.
Measuring 4,782 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, the BMW iX3 heralds a new era for the automaker as the first production model of the Neue Klasse. According to Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of management of BMW, the BMW iX3 represents a significant step forward for BMW in terms of innovation and technological advancement.
In conclusion, the introduction of the new BMW iX3 China-exclusive edition demonstrates BMW’s commitment to the Chinese market and its dedication to providing cutting-edge technology and superior driving experiences to consumers worldwide.
