Land Rover Unveils Special-Edition Defender Inspired by Classic Camel Trophy Cars

Land Rover has recently introduced a new special-edition Defender that pays homage to the iconic Camel Trophy cars of the past. This unique model is based on the mid-sized Defender 110 and comes equipped with off-road accessories and retro paint colours that evoke the spirit of adventure.

The special-edition Defender features 20-inch alloy wheels and is available in two distinctive paint options: Deep Sandglow Yellow or Keswick Green. These colours are complemented by a black bonnet, wheel arches, and roof, creating a striking contrast. Inside, the vehicle boasts a black leather interior, with the dashboard panel painted to match the exterior colour.

For enthusiasts looking to enhance their off-road capabilities, Land Rover offers the optional Trophy Edition accessory pack for an additional £4995. This pack includes a roof rack, exterior panniers, an air-intake snorkel, a roof ladder, and mud flaps. Additionally, customers can opt for matt-finish paint protection film for added durability.

While the new Defender does not bear the official Camel Trophy branding, it embraces the look and spirit of the legendary competition cars. Land Rover describes the Trophy Edition as a tribute to its “rich history of adventure challenges” and notes that the yellow shade is synonymous with Defenders used in international Trophy-style events.

The special-edition Defender will be showcased at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed from 10-13 July. Pricing for this model starts at £89,810, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of off-road history.

This release follows Land Rover Classic’s production of 25 original Defender models inspired by the Camel Trophy. Launched in 2021, the first batch of these vehicles sold out within three days, despite a hefty price tag of £195,000. A subsequent run of 25 models was released the following year, further cementing the popularity of these expedition-inspired Defenders.
