Xpeng Launches Updated G6 Crossover with Fastest-Charging EV Technology

Xpeng has recently unveiled its latest version of the G6 crossover, aimed to compete with the Tesla Model Y in the electric vehicle market. The new G6 features a range of styling enhancements and cutting-edge battery technology that promises to revolutionize the charging experience for EV drivers.

Since its initial debut just two years ago, the mid-sized electric SUV has undergone a facelift to align with the brand’s design language and stand out among its competitors. One of the most significant updates is the remarkable increase in maximum charging speed, now reaching an impressive 451kW. This advancement allows for a rapid 10-80% charge in just 12 minutes, setting a new standard for fast-charging EVs in its class.

While exact details on battery sustainability at peak charging speeds remain undisclosed, the new G6 boasts a maximum range of 326 miles for the largest battery variant, indicating a slight decrease in overall capacity compared to its predecessor.

Complementing the technical upgrades, the G6 has undergone a visual refresh, featuring a sleek full-width front light bar, color-matched wheel arches, an enhanced rear diffuser, and a subtle rear spoiler. Inside, the cabin receives updates such as wood-grain dashboard trim, improved material quality, and the option for a digital rear-view mirror on higher trim levels.

European customers can now place orders for the updated G6, with deliveries expected to commence towards the end of summer. While the UK release date is yet to be confirmed by Xpeng’s importer, International Motors, the crossover is set to make its public debut at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Alongside the G6, Xpeng has also enhanced its flagship G9 SUV with a staggering peak charging speed of 530kW. The Audi Q6 E-tron competitor is already available in Europe and is anticipated to hit the UK market in the near future.
