Nio (NYSE: NIO) experienced a surge in daily battery swap services during the month of February, making it the highest month in the company’s history for average daily battery swaps. The increase in battery swaps can be attributed to the Chinese New Year holiday, a peak travel period that saw a spike in driving trips.

According to a monthly operations report released by Nio Power, the electric vehicle (EV) maker provided a total of 2,738,400 battery swaps from February 1-28, averaging around 97,800 swaps per day. This marks a significant milestone for Nio, showcasing the growing demand for their battery swap services.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, which took place from January 28 to February 4, Nio recorded 136,720 single-day battery swap services on February 3, the peak of travel towards the end of the holiday period. This record-breaking number demonstrates the popularity and efficiency of Nio’s battery swap stations.

In addition to the increase in battery swaps, Nio also expanded its network by adding 35 new battery swap stations in China, bringing the total number of facilities to 3,141 by the end of February. Notably, 970 of these stations are located along highways, catering to the needs of long-distance travelers.

On average, each Nio user utilized the battery swap service approximately six times in February, highlighting the convenience and accessibility of this service. Compared to traditional charging methods, the battery swap service saves users an average of 5 hours and 42 minutes per month, showcasing its efficiency and time-saving benefits.

Furthermore, Nio added 101 charging piles in February, with 22 county-level administrative regions receiving their first Nio charging posts. The company provided a total of 1,866,312 charging services in February, with over 80 percent of orders serving non-Nio-branded models, demonstrating the widespread adoption of Nio’s charging network.
