Nio’s Battery Swap Network Achieves Milestone Coverage of Major Highways and Urban Clusters
Nio, a leading electric vehicle (EV) maker, has announced a significant milestone in its battery swap network. The company’s battery swap stations now cover nine major horizontal highways, seven vertical highways, and 12 urban clusters in China, marking progress towards a goal set two years ago.
The completion of the network’s coverage of the G80 Guangzhou-Kunming highway and the Zhejiang and Hunan sections of the Hangzhou-Ruili highway demonstrates Nio’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure. With the addition of seven new battery swap stations, including four along highways, Nio now boasts a total of 2,609 stations in China, with 871 strategically located along highways.
In July 2022, at the second Nio Power Day event, the company outlined ambitious plans to build a comprehensive battery swap network by 2025. This network aims to cover nine vertical highways, nine horizontal highways, and 19 urban clusters across China. Despite setting new targets at the recent Power UP event in August, Nio remains focused on achieving its original goal.
While the company initially aimed to add 1,000 stations in China in 2024, delays may be possible. Nio has added 293 battery swap stations this year, with founder and CEO William Li hinting at a potential 1-2 month delay in achieving the network expansion goal.
In a recent update, Nio’s Onvo sub-brand has seen a significant increase in available battery swap stations. With the addition of 71 new stations, including fourth-generation facilities and renovated third-generation stations, Nio is making progress in enhancing its infrastructure.
Moreover, Nio recently signed a deal to add 100 swap stations in central China’s Hubei province, further expanding its network and reach. The company continues to prioritize the construction of battery swap stations along highways, underscoring its commitment to providing convenient and efficient charging solutions for EV owners.
As Nio works towards completing its battery swap network covering major highways and urban clusters in China, the company remains at the forefront of innovation in the EV industry. With a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and reliability, Nio is paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future in transportation.
