Nio Inc, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, recently achieved a significant milestone by delivering its 700,000th vehicle under the Nio brand. This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to technological innovation and the development of high-end automotive brands within the Chinese auto industry.
The 700,000th vehicle was delivered in Wuhan, Hubei province, marking a momentous occasion for Nio and its founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li. In a statement on Weibo, Li expressed pride in reaching this milestone and highlighted the brand’s dedication to exceeding customer expectations through cutting-edge technology and superior products.
In April, Nio Inc reported delivering a total of 23,900 vehicles, the second-highest monthly delivery figure in the company’s history. Of this total, the Nio main brand accounted for 19,269 vehicles, reflecting a notable year-on-year increase of 23.36 percent. Subsidiary brands Onvo and Firefly also contributed to the overall delivery numbers, with Onvo delivering 4,400 vehicles and Firefly delivering 231 vehicles in April.
The delivery of the 700,000th vehicle signifies the Nio main brand’s continued success, with a total of 2,615 vehicles delivered so far in the current month. As of the end of April, the cumulative deliveries for the Nio main brand stood at 697,385 units, while the overall deliveries for Nio Inc, including all brands, reached 737,558 vehicles.
Nio’s journey began in 2014 with the launch of its first production vehicle, the ES8, which marked the company’s foray into the EV market. Over the years, Nio has achieved several milestones, including the delivery of its 100,000th vehicle in April 2021 and the 600,000th production vehicle delivery in October 2024.
Looking ahead, Nio is poised to introduce updated versions of its popular models, including the ES6 SUV, EC6 coupe SUV, and ET5 and ET5 Touring sedans. Pre-orders for these facelifted models have already begun in China, with official launches scheduled for May. Show cars of the updated ES6 and EC6 models are currently on display at Nio showrooms, with the ET5 and ET5 Touring models set to follow suit in the coming weeks.
In addition to its product offerings, Nio has also made strategic changes to streamline its operations and reduce costs. A recent report indicates that the company is integrating its three brands—Nio, Onvo, and Firefly—more closely, with Onvo operating as a first-tier division of Nio while remaining a distinct sub-brand.
Overall, Nio’s continued success in the EV market, coupled with its focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, positions the company as a key player in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. With a strong commitment to excellence and a dedication to pushing boundaries, Nio is poised to make further strides in the global EV market.
