Nio ET7, EC7, ES8 see slightly longer wait times

Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently announced changes in delivery wait times for its popular models ET7, EC7, and ES8. The wait times have shifted from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks, marking the first adjustment in the past five months for the Nio brand.

This change in delivery timelines has caught the attention of Chinese customers who are eagerly awaiting their orders of the ET7, EC7, and ES8 models. Previously, customers were informed of a 2-3 week wait time, but now they will have to wait a bit longer for their vehicles to arrive.

Nio’s main brand offers a total of eight models, including SUVs like the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, and EC6, as well as sedans like the ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring. Among these models, the ET7, EC7, and ES8 are the highest-priced options, hence the slight increase in delivery wait times for these premium vehicles.

Interestingly, the wait times for the Onvo sub-brand’s first model, the L60, remain unchanged despite the adjustments in delivery timelines for the Nio main brand models. The L60 had its wait time shortened to 8-10 weeks on December 1, down from the previous 10-14 weeks.

Nio has been closely monitoring delivery wait times for its models in China since September 2022. The last time there was a change in wait times for the main branded models was on July 3, when the ET7 wait time was reduced from 3-4 weeks to 2-3 weeks.

In November, Nio delivered a total of 20,575 vehicles, marking a 28.92 percent increase from the previous year but a slight decrease from October’s figures. The company has set a target of delivering 72,000 to 75,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2024.

To boost sales in December, Nio announced larger promotions on December 1, including extended free access to the NOP (Navigate on Pilot Plus) feature and enhanced benefits for customers opting for the BaaS (battery as a service) option.

The longer delivery wait times for the ET7, EC7, and ES8 models may be attributed to the increased demand following the promotional offers by Nio. Additionally, the company is gearing up to launch its Firefly sub-brand at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, with deliveries of the first model expected to begin in the first half of 2025.

Overall, Nio continues to make waves in the electric vehicle market with its innovative models and customer-centric approach, setting the stage for further growth and success in the future.
