The Nio ET9 flagship sedan has been officially unveiled as the company applies for a sales license in China. This executive four-seater boasts impressive specifications, including a length of over 5.3 meters, a weight of 2,700 kg, and dual motors with a combined output of nearly 700 horsepower.
In China, all cars must go through a rigorous approval process by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) before they can be sold to the public. This process often reveals images and specifications of cars that have not yet been officially launched, much to the dismay of automakers.
The production version of the Nio ET9 closely resembles the concept car that was revealed last year, with only minor adjustments such as the addition of classic rear mirrors and slightly tweaked bumpers. The car will be manufactured at Nio’s Hefei plant in NeoPark, also known as F2.
Powered by dual motors developed in-house by Nio Power Technology in Hefei, the ET9 offers a combined output of 520 kW (697 hp) and a top speed of 220 km/h. The car features a unique Skyride stabilization system that allows for impressive maneuvers, such as playing tabletop football and driving smoothly over speed bumps.
One of the standout features of the ET9 is its support for battery swap technology, with a pack provided by CATL containing 46105 cylindrical battery cells co-developed with Nio. The car is built on a 925V architecture and supports 5C fast charging, allowing for a quick addition of 255 km of range in just 5 minutes. Additionally, the ET9 can utilize Nio’s latest 640 kWh charging station with a peak charging power of 600 kW.
With its luxurious design and cutting-edge technology, the Nio ET9 is set to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Maybach in the Chinese market. This high-performance electric sedan is poised to make a significant impact in the luxury car segment with its impressive features and capabilities.
