Nio, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a significant milestone in its battery swap station network in China. With a total of 2,905 stations across the country, Nio has achieved its goal of having 1,000 stations available to its Onvo sub-brand by the end of 2024.
The 2,900th Nio battery swap station is located in Sanmenxia, Henan province, marking a key advancement in the company’s Power Up Counties plan. This initiative aims to expand Nio’s battery swap station network to cover more than 2,300 counties in China by December 31, 2025, and have its charging network reach all counties in the country by June 30, 2025.
In a recent development, Nio put 18 new battery swap stations into operation, bringing the total number to 2,905, with 929 stations strategically located along highways. The company has provided approximately 61.3 million battery swap services to date, showcasing the popularity and efficiency of this innovative technology.
Furthermore, Nio has successfully added 589 battery swap stations this year alone, falling slightly short of its target to add 1,000 new stations in 2024. The company also announced that it has met its year-end goal of having 1,000 battery swap stations available to its Onvo sub-brand, with 80 new stations added in the final week of December.
Onvo, Nio’s sub-brand, has been making waves in the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first model, the L60, in September. The cumulative deliveries of the L60 have exceeded 20,000 units within just 100 days of its launch, demonstrating strong consumer demand for Nio’s offerings.
In addition to its battery swap stations, Nio boasts one of the largest charging networks in China, with 2,545 supercharging stations offering 11,740 charging piles and 1,672 destination charging stations offering 13,042 charging piles. This comprehensive network ensures that Nio customers have convenient access to charging facilities across the country.
Meanwhile, Nio’s local counterpart, Li Auto, has also been ramping up its charging infrastructure, with 1,518 supercharging stations currently in operation. While this falls slightly behind previously announced targets, Li Auto is making strides in expanding its network to support the launch of more battery electric vehicle models in the coming years.
Overall, Nio’s continued expansion of its battery swap station network and charging infrastructure underscores the company’s commitment to providing reliable and convenient services to its customers. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Nio is shaping the future of electric mobility in China and beyond.
