Chinese LiDAR supplier Seyond has made a significant breakthrough by entering into a supply partnership with a leading auto group in China, expanding its customer base beyond its primary client, Nio. The partnership entails the exclusive supply of Seyond’s 905 nm Robin series E1X products to multiple brands under the automotive group’s umbrella. Models equipped with the Robin E1X are set to go into mass production in 2026, with sales expected to reach hundreds of thousands over the next three years.

This collaboration marks a major milestone for Seyond, showcasing progress in customer status, product categories, and the number of vehicle models. The company, founded in 2016, operates R&D centers in Silicon Valley, Suzhou, and Shanghai, along with LiDAR manufacturing facilities in Ningbo and Suzhou. Formerly known as Innovusion, Seyond rebranded in December 2023.

Notably, Nio was the first to mass-produce Seyond’s LiDAR products with the delivery of its ET7 vehicles on March 28, 2022. Subsequently, all Nio brand models have been equipped with the 1,550-nm Falcon LiDAR on their roofs, except for the Onvo and Firefly models. The Falcon series boasts a long-range LiDAR solution with a maximum detection range of 500 meters, while the Robin E1X offers a standard detection range of 200 meters and a maximum range of 250 meters.

In addition to its partnership with the auto group, Seyond has secured a supply agreement with a new automotive startup for the Robin E1X, which has commenced mass production this year. The company’s Falcon series LiDAR has already surpassed 500,000 cumulative shipments, with Nio being its primary customer.

In the competitive automotive LiDAR sector, publicly listed companies like Hesai Group and RoboSense Technology dominate the market. Reports earlier this year indicated that Seyond was exploring the possibility of listing in Hong Kong through a back-door listing method.

The partnership with the auto group signifies a significant step forward for Seyond, positioning the company as a key player in the automotive LiDAR industry. With a track record of successful collaborations and innovative LiDAR solutions, Seyond is poised for further growth and success in the evolving automotive technology landscape.
