Nio Group Sets Record with 136,748 Battery Swaps in a Single Day

The Nio group achieved a new milestone on February 3 with a record-breaking 136,748 battery swaps in a single day. This significant achievement came as people returned home from Chinese New Year celebrations, showcasing the growing popularity and demand for electric vehicles in China.

Of these battery swaps, 8,000 were attributed to Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio. This marked a new milestone for Onvo, as it continues to gain traction in the market.

Free Unlimited Access for Onvo Owners

During the high season around Chinese New Year, Onvo owners enjoyed free unlimited access to battery swapping along highways between January 22 and February 12. This promotion was exclusive to Onvo owners, as Nio owners had to pay for battery swaps as usual.

While not all Nio stations are compatible with Onvo vehicles, the company has been making adjustments to support the sub-brand. Last week, Nio updated 49 stations to accommodate Onvo, bringing the total number of Onvo-compatible stations to 1,291, representing 40% of all Nio stations in China.

Impressive Statistics and Growth

On the record day of February 3, the Nio group saw an average of 5,698 swaps per hour. With 3,106 battery swap stations currently operational in China, each station conducted an average of 44 swaps. Nio is also on track to reach 65 million cumulative swaps in the near future.

It’s important to note that the data provided only reflect the operations in China and do not include the impact of the 59 battery swap stations that Nio operates in Europe.

Since January 23, Nio has been providing over 100,000 battery swaps daily, with only a couple of days showing slightly lower numbers. The company also reported a successful sales month in January, with 13,863 cars sold, marking a 37.9% increase from the previous year.

Challenges and Opportunities for Onvo

While the Nio brand continues to perform well, Onvo faced some challenges in January. The entry-level sub-brand sold 5,912 units of its only car, the L60 SUV, which was a 44% decrease from the previous month.

Onvo launched in September, and its president, Alan Ai, had set a target of 10,000 deliveries in December. Despite falling short of this goal, Onvo remains optimistic about its future prospects and is focused on expanding its market presence.

Overall, the Nio group’s record-breaking battery swaps highlight the increasing adoption of electric vehicles in China and the company’s commitment to providing innovative solutions for its customers.
