Nio, a leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, recently witnessed a surge in battery swap services as the Chinese New Year holiday travel rush began. On January 23, the company provided a total of 103,919 battery swap services, with a significant portion of these services being utilized by users on highways. This spike in demand for battery swap services is a common occurrence during peak travel periods such as holidays in China.

As of now, Nio boasts a network of 3,064 battery swap stations across China, with 955 strategically located along highways to cater to long-distance travelers. In addition to battery swap stations, Nio also operates a vast charging network comprising 2,639 supercharging stations and 1,684 destination charging stations. This extensive infrastructure allows Nio users to easily access charging facilities and ensures a seamless driving experience.

One of the key highlights of Nio’s charging network is its openness to all EV brands, allowing users of different electric vehicles to utilize their services. Several brands have partnered with Nio in the past year to enhance the charging experience for their customers. Furthermore, Nio is actively working towards transforming its battery swap service into a cloud service-like offering that can be utilized by other EV manufacturers.

In line with its commitment to collaboration, Nio has announced multiple partnerships with other brands to expand the reach of its battery swap technology. For instance, Nio has teamed up with Chery’s sub-brand Exeed to introduce battery swap-enabled models that are expected to be available in the market by the third quarter of 2025. This partnership aims to offer customers more options for accessing convenient and efficient charging solutions.

Overall, Nio’s continuous efforts to enhance its charging infrastructure and expand its partnerships with other brands underscore its commitment to driving the adoption of electric vehicles in China. With the Chinese New Year holiday approaching and millions of travelers expected to hit the roads, Nio’s robust battery swap and charging network will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for EV users across the country.
