Nio, a leading electric vehicle (EV) maker, experienced a surge in battery swap services during the recent Labor Day holiday in China, coinciding with the peak of driving travel. Over the five-day holiday period from May 1-5, Nio recorded a total of 634,177 services at its 3,302 battery swap stations across China.
During this holiday rush, more than 120,000 battery swaps were conducted daily, averaging one swap every 0.6 seconds. The peak day for battery swap services was May 1, with 134,770 swaps, closely followed by May 5, which saw 131,984 swaps. These figures are comparable to the record-breaking 136,720 services provided during the Chinese New Year holiday earlier in the year.
As of May 6, Nio boasted a network of 3,302 battery swap stations nationwide, with 983 strategically positioned along major highways. Since its inception, Nio has delivered over 73 million battery swap services, with a significant portion of users (81%) relying on these stations for their energy needs.
Compared to the previous year’s holiday season, there was a remarkable 64% increase in the average daily number of services delivered by highway-based battery swap stations. Among the busiest stations were those situated on the G15 Shenyang-Haikou highway, where 63 stations collectively handled an average of 3,374 services per day. This was closely followed by the G3 Beijing-Taipei highway, with 45 stations managing an average of 1,902 services daily.
Noteworthy highlights include the Xiangshui service area station on the G15 highway, which recorded an impressive 150 services in a single day, making it the busiest station during the holiday period. Following closely behind was the Jiande service area station on the G6021 Hangzhou-Changsha highway, with 149 services in a day.
In addition to battery swaps, Nio’s 26,189 charging piles in China provided 452,511 charging services during the holiday, with 87% of the power allocated to non-Nio customers. Furthermore, over 13,050 flexible battery upgrades were carried out, including 4,099 users opting for long-range battery packs.
With a growing network of battery swap stations and a strong commitment to efficient service delivery, Nio continues to solidify its position in the EV market, catering to the diverse needs of its expanding customer base.
