Nio is gearing up for a major milestone as it prepares to officially launch its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, at Nio Day 2024. This event will also mark the introduction of Nio’s new sub-brand, Firefly, signaling a significant expansion in the price range covered by Nio’s product lineup.

The company recently shared new images of the ET9 on Weibo, showcasing the sedan’s striking blue exterior and highlighting its sophisticated design details. The official launch of the ET9 is scheduled for December 21 at Nio Day 2024 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

With the introduction of the Firefly sub-brand and the ET9, Nio is broadening its product range to cater to a wider market segment. The ET9, which was unveiled at Nio Day 2023, comes with a pre-sale price of RMB 800,000, making it Nio’s highest-priced model. Deliveries are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.

Currently, Nio’s main brand offers models in the price range of RMB 300,000 to RMB 600,000, while the Onvo sub-brand covers the range of RMB 200,000 to RMB 300,000. Firefly, on the other hand, is positioned to target the RMB 100,000 to RMB 200,000 price range, with its first model expected to be priced around RMB 150,000.

The ET9 is packed with cutting-edge technologies, including Nio’s own 5 nm process-based Shenji autonomous driving chip. The sedan features the SkyRide intelligent chassis system, which has been showcased in videos demonstrating its impressive capabilities.

Notably, the ET9 recently received a mass-production permit for its steer-by-wire (SBW) technology, making it the first mass-produced vehicle in China to feature this advanced technology. Nio will play a key role in developing a national standard for SBW as the only company with an actual mass-produced model.
