Nio, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, recently marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 10th anniversary by putting 10 new battery swap stations into operation in China. This move brings the total number of Nio’s signature battery swap stations to an impressive 2,702 across the country.

The 2,700th Nio battery swap station was launched in Karamay, located in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. This expansion signifies the company’s commitment to providing convenient and efficient battery swapping services to its customers.

In addition to its domestic growth, Nio is also making strides in expanding its battery swap station network in international markets, particularly in Europe. Currently, Nio has 58 battery swap stations in Europe, with a significant presence in countries like Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands. The company recently celebrated reaching 100,000 battery swap service counts in Europe, highlighting the success of its overseas expansion efforts.

Nio’s journey in establishing its battery swap station network began in 2018 with the completion of its first station in Shenzhen. Since then, the company has continued to innovate and improve its battery swap technology, unveiling its fourth-generation station at the last Nio Day event in December 2023.

Despite setting ambitious goals to add 1,000 stations in China in 2024, Nio has faced delays in achieving this target. As of now, the company has added 386 battery swap stations in China this year, showcasing steady progress in its expansion efforts.

Overall, Nio’s dedication to enhancing the EV charging infrastructure through its battery swap stations reflects its commitment to providing a seamless and convenient experience for EV owners. With a strong foundation of over 2,700 stations in China and a growing presence in international markets, Nio continues to lead the way in revolutionizing the EV charging landscape.
