NIO Celebrates Milestone with 2,800th Battery Swapping Station Launch in China

Shanghai (Gasgoo) – NIO recently made a significant announcement, unveiling its 2,800th battery swapping station in China. The company also disclosed that its users have completed over 60 million battery swaps to date. This achievement marks a major milestone for NIO as it continues to expand its network of battery swapping stations across the country.

The rapid growth of NIO’s battery swapping network is evident, with the company adding 100 stations within just a month after inaugurating its 2,700th station on November 25. This demonstrates NIO’s commitment to providing convenient and efficient charging solutions for its customers.

During the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show, NIO’s Co-founder and President, Mr. Lihong Qin, introduced the 318 Sichuan-Xizang battery swapping route, covering a distance of 2,800 kilometers. NIO plans to establish 14 battery swapping stations along this route, with five stations already operational. The company aims to complete the Sichuan segment by the end of this year and the Xizang segment before the next Chengdu Motor Show.

Moreover, NIO unveiled its “Power Up Counties” initiative at the Power Up 2024 event in August. This initiative focuses on building county-level electric vehicle charging and battery swapping networks in China. By June 30, 2025, NIO plans to have its battery swapping stations installed in over 1,200 counties across 14 provincial-level administrative divisions. This strategic expansion will enhance accessibility to charging facilities for NIO users nationwide.

As of December 16, NIO has established a total of 2,802 battery swapping stations and deployed 4,175 charging stations with 24,555 charging piles throughout China. Additionally, NIO has collaborated with various automakers to enhance charging and battery swapping network connectivity. Brands such as AVATR, Chery, MHERO, HIMA, Hongqi, DEEPAL, AION, IM Motors, ZEEKR, Lotus Cars, Cadillac, Buick, and XPENG now share charging interoperability with NIO’s facilities.

In conclusion, NIO’s relentless efforts to expand its energy supply network and strengthen partnerships with key industry players underscore its commitment to providing innovative and sustainable charging solutions for electric vehicle owners. The company’s ambitious plans for future expansion signal its dedication to shaping the future of transportation in China and beyond.
