Nio is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated third-generation ES8 SUV, with a product and technology event scheduled for late August. The official launch of the SUV is set to take place at Nio Day 2025 in September. According to a car blogger, the new ES8 will start arriving at Nio stores on August 21.

The excitement surrounding the third-generation ES8 reached a new high as spy shots of the vehicle without any camouflage surfaced online. The images depict the sleek design of the ES8, featuring a central touchscreen similar to the one found in the ET9, as well as digital rearview mirrors and side-facing LiDARs. These advanced features are expected to elevate the driving experience for Nio customers.

Nio founder and CEO, William Li, confirmed the imminent launch of the third-generation ES8 during a recent media briefing. He announced that the unveiling of the new ES8 will take place later this month, followed by the official debut at Nio Day 2025 in September. The ES8 holds a special place in Nio’s lineup as its first mass-produced model, originally introduced at Nio Day 2017.

The upcoming ES8 is larger than its predecessor, as indicated in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory filing catalog. With dimensions measuring 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, the new ES8 offers a spacious interior and enhanced comfort for passengers. The model will be available in both six- and seven-seat configurations, catering to a wide range of customer preferences.

In addition to the ES8, Nio is also preparing to launch its flagship SUV, the ES9, in the first half of 2026. The ES9 is expected to elevate Nio’s product portfolio with cutting-edge technology and performance capabilities. With Nio’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, the ES9 is poised to set new benchmarks in the electric vehicle industry.
