Nio Power, a subsidiary of Nio, recently achieved a significant milestone as its battery swap station plant in Wuhan, Hubei province, produced its 100th battery swap station. This marks the beginning of the plant’s mass production phase, signaling a significant step towards accelerating the construction of battery swap stations in the coming year.
The facility, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, was established in just two months and is expected to deliver around 200 battery swap stations by the end of this year. By 2025, the plant’s maximum capacity is projected to reach 1,500 battery swap stations, with an annual output value exceeding RMB 2 billion ($275 million). This growth is expected to attract more companies along the industry chain to Wuhan Optics Valley, where Nio Power is headquartered.
Nio Power has become the world’s largest battery swap service operator, offering a chargeable, swappable, and upgradeable energy service system. The company has played a key role in setting national and industry standards, driving the push to make charging more convenient than refueling.
With six manufacturing centers globally and a total of 2,806 battery swap stations and 24,455 charging piles, Nio Power has solidified its position as a leader in the energy service industry. The 100th battery swap station produced at the Wuhan plant was witnessed by officials from Wuhan and Nio executives, including senior vice president Shen Fei.
Nio’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure is evident in its establishment of a new battery swap station assembly plant in Wuhan. This new facility, along with existing plants in Kunshan and Hefei, will support the company’s vision for widespread deployment of battery swap stations across China.
In a strategic move to support its infrastructure expansion, Nio Power received an investment of RMB 1.5 billion from strategic investors in Wuhan. This financing will fuel research and development efforts in charging, battery swap, energy storage, and other areas related to energy services.
Nio Power’s growth and success underscore the company’s dedication to providing innovative solutions for electric vehicle charging. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, Nio is well-positioned to lead the way in creating a more sustainable and convenient energy ecosystem.
Overall, Nio Power’s achievement of producing its 100th battery swap station signifies a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards revolutionizing the electric vehicle charging landscape. With a strong focus on innovation and expansion, Nio is poised to shape the future of energy services in the automotive industry.
