Nio, the renowned electric vehicle (EV) maker, has achieved a significant milestone in its Power Up Counties program by completing the initial coverage of all counties in Guangdong province, located in southern China. This achievement comes as two new battery swap stations were recently launched in Guangdong, marking a significant step forward for Nio Power, the energy arm of Nio responsible for the company’s charging and battery swap network.
As of now, Nio boasts a total of 428 battery swap stations in Guangdong alone, highlighting the company’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure to support the growing demand for electric vehicles in the region. In addition to the battery swap stations, Nio currently operates 3,289 battery swap stations across China, with 979 strategically located along highways for convenient access.
Moreover, Nio has also established a robust network of 2,794 supercharging stations and 1,726 destination charging stations in China, providing a total of 12,878 superchargers and 13,228 charging piles to meet the charging needs of EV owners.
The Power Up Counties program, introduced by Nio at the Nio Power Up 2024 event, aims to expand the battery swap station network to cover over 2,300 counties across all 27 provincial administrative regions in China by December 31, 2025. Additionally, Nio plans to have its charging network cover all counties in China by June 30, 2025, demonstrating the company’s commitment to enhancing the EV charging infrastructure nationwide.
Nio’s recent accomplishments in Guangdong follow the successful completion of the Power Up Counties program in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. These provinces, known for their high concentration of Nio owners, have benefited from the establishment of 383 and 443 battery swap stations, respectively, further solidifying Nio’s presence in the region.
Looking ahead, Nio’s founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, has emphasized the company’s focus on expanding the battery swap station network, with plans to complete the Power Up Counties program in 14 provinces in the first half of this year. Li’s hands-on approach is evident as he personally inspects Nio’s major battery swap stations in Guangdong, underscoring the company’s dedication to providing convenient and efficient charging solutions for EV owners.
