Nissan Motor Corporation has recently unveiled its latest innovation at the Auto Shanghai 2025 show – the all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup truck. This groundbreaking model is part of Nissan’s plan to launch nine new energy vehicle (NEV) models in China by mid-2027. The Frontier Pro marks Nissan’s first foray into the PHEV market and its first electrified pickup truck.
Scheduled for release in the Chinese market later this year, the Frontier Pro will also be made available in other markets across Asia and beyond. Designed as a five-seater double-cab pickup truck, the Frontier Pro caters to families looking for a vehicle that can seamlessly transition from urban commutes to weekend adventures.
The Frontier Pro boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a high-output electric motor mounted on the transmission. This dynamic system delivers over 300 Kw of power and up to 800 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 135 km in pure EV mode. The model features a 5-link rear suspension, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, and an electromechanical rear differential lock for enhanced off-road capabilities. Additionally, it offers four drive modes: Hybrid, Pure electric, Performance, and Snow.
Inside, the Frontier Pro boasts a luxurious interior with heated and ventilated front seats, seat-back massage function, a 10-inch LCD instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen. The design concept, “Rugged Tech,” is reflected in the modern exterior styling and the spacious, refined interior of the vehicle.
As Nissan continues to push the boundaries of automotive technology, the Frontier Pro represents a significant step towards a sustainable and efficient future.
