NYC’s fastest EV charging company, Revel, opens its first West Coast station

Revel, the popular EV charging company known for its high-speed chargers in and around New York City, has officially started its West Coast expansion. The company recently unveiled 12 320kW chargers in San Francisco, with more installations planned for the near future.

Electrek has covered Revel extensively in the past, highlighting the company’s commitment to installing top-quality charging stations in densely populated areas that are often lacking in charging infrastructure. These areas typically have residents who may not have access to off-street parking or home charging, making reliable 24/7 fast charging a necessity.

Notably, Revel made headlines when it hired a significant number of former Tesla Supercharger team members, after Tesla CEO Elon Musk controversially let them go. This move further solidified Revel’s position as a key player in the EV charging industry.

Originally launching in New York City, Revel has now expanded to San Francisco, a city known for its high adoption rate of electric vehicles. The new charging station, located in the Mission District at 199 Erie Street, boasts 12 charging stalls equipped with Kempower chargers capable of delivering 320kW of power. This high power output is a significant advantage, especially considering that many vehicles cannot handle such fast charging speeds.

The chargers at the San Francisco station are split evenly between CCS and NACS heads, catering to a wide range of EV models. This inclusivity allows drivers of any make to utilize the chargers, provided they have the necessary adapters.

This launch marks just the beginning of Revel’s expansion into the Bay Area. The company has plans to install a total of 125 chargers across San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and South San Francisco within the next year. With an existing network of 100 chargers, Revel is poised to further establish itself as a key player in the EV charging market.

In conclusion, Revel’s expansion to the West Coast signals a significant milestone for the company and the EV charging industry as a whole. With a focus on high-speed, reliable charging in densely populated urban areas, Revel is paving the way for widespread EV adoption and accessibility.
